So brutal honesty time. Here is a picture of what my living room couch looks like right now.
Yep, laundry half folded and not hung or put up yet. And a basket of tangled hangers waiting for me to finish the job.
And here’s the dinning room table:
Groceries, mail, my purse right where I dropped it when I came in carrying a sleepy baby, cookbook open to the next recipe I have to prep and projects of mine, hubby’s and the kids.
Now, because of the choices I made today I might be up late tonight finishing these. And some people might think I should be doing that right now or should have done it already. But I don’t think my kids are going to remember a messy table or laundry that didn’t get put away as soon as it came out of the dryer.
I do think they will remember when Mom stopped cleaning and did this:
See Daniel earned a dollar earlier this week (for helping me with housecleaning, ironically) and choose to buy a kite from the Dollar Store. It’s been such a busy week he hadn’t had an opportunity to use it so I promised him we could go fly his kite today.
We had a blast. Everyone got a chance to hold the kite, even Abigail. Joseph was a great kite launcher whenever the wind died down enough that the kite dropped. Daniel was a natural, he got the kite flying higher and longer than anyone.
After a few hours of kite flying fun we came home and made homemade frozen lemonade and watched Mary Poppins (“Let’s Go Fly a Kite…) together.
So when we pick up Dad tonight and he says”Tell me about your day?” Do you think they are going to complain that Mommy didn’t finish the laundry or clean off the dinning room table? Probably not. 😄
